There are many different materials and combination of materials that can be used to make implant hybrid restorations. A popular one that has gained significant traction recently is Crystal Ultra. Crystal Ultra is a nano-ceramic material that bridges the gap between plastic denture teeth and zirconia. Although significantly stronger than acrylic, it still must be supported by a frame that it can bond to and be treated correctly for success.
Dr. Howell and Dr. Farley are Prosthodontists in Mesa, Arizona where they utilize this material as a Superstructure that is bonded onto a non-metal framework such as Pekkton or Trilor. The beauty of pairing such materials together is that if treated correctly, a strong bond can be created between them and thus making a very strong, esthetic restoration that gets its strength from the sum of the parts.
Digital dentistry allows for a very simple and predictable workflow when fabricating these types of prosthetics. It also allows for mix and match of different materials of choice for teeth superstructures, bar substructures, and pink veneering. This is a perfect restoration to start fabricating in your lab or office if you are wanting to get into hybrid fabrication. The workflow is very adaptable to picking and choosing what steps of the workflow you want to do or are comfortable with. If there is some equipment or software you don’t have, there are many avenues to get those things created elsewhere yet keeping a nice workflow.
In this fully comprehensive clinical and laboratory step by step course, Dr. Howell and Dr. Farley take a patient from start to finish in fabricating one of these prostheses and will show you each clinical step followed by each lab step needed to be prepared for the next clinical step. Truly one of a kind!
